"I just don't know what to do guys. I mean, what would he think if I told him something like this?" You groaned and took a sip of your ale, you had a rather big problem on your hands, you were trying to figure out your feelings for Haytham. So you decided to consult William and John about it. You didn't dare try talking to Thomas or Charles about it, mostly because Thomas has a big mouth and would spill your secrets and Charles has a not-so-secret man crush on Haytham.

"I am sure that Master Haytham would give you no fault for something you can't control, if anything he would just politely turn you down and say that you are simply too young for him." John tried to comfort you, but was sadly failing.

"But I am his loyal bodyguard! I am supposed to protect him not fall in love with him like a doe-eyed school girl." You threw your hands up in defeat and placed your head on the wooden table where the three of you were sitting.

"If anything hopefully the two of you can still remain good friends."

"But there in lies the problem, John. I want to be more than friends with him, but at the same time I'm terrified of cocking this whole thing up and having him hate me." You sighed dejectedly and finished off your ale in one gulp, the liquid burned your throat and you immediately regretted doing that but you endured and swallowed.

"Miss (Y/n), If there is one thing I am certain of, that is unless you decide to run off with that native and join the Assassins, there is not much in this world that you could do that would make Master Haytham hate you." William spoke up this time as he finished off his drink. You knew that he was telling the truth , but there was still that nagging feeling that made your stomach twist and turn with anxiety.

"I guess I understand that, Will, but I also don't want Master Haytham to think less of me for this as well."

"Then the next best thing I can suggest is that you, "man up", as the term goes, and talk about this with Master Haytham yourself. You will have to do it eventually and there's no time like the present." William stood up and hooked his arm with yours as he began dragging you towards the door, you panicked and dug your heels in the floorboards, thankfully Will has the upper body strength of a child and was only able to push you a few feet before you stopped him.

"Maybe at another time, Haytham, Charles, and Thomas are supposed to head out to Boston soon so I will talk to him after they get back. I wouldn't want to pollute his mind with my silliness during an important mission." You rubbed the back of your neck nervously as you heard both men sigh at you.

"Very well, but I suggest you figure out what you want to say and how you want to say while they are away."

"I shall do that, now if you will excuse me, I'm going to go for a walk. I will talk to you two later when I have figured something out." You stood up to leave and bid goodbye to them.

"Be safe, (Y/n)."

"You as well, John, Will." You waved goodbye to the men and departed to walk around the city. Little did you know that Thomas had heard everything from the other room, and was already plotting against you.

"Oh, this ought to be good." Thomas gulped down his drink and directed his attention at the barmaid.

~~The next day~~

"Well gents, we best be off." Haytham called out as he dismissed the meeting, You brought him his coat and hat and helped him put them on.

"Aye, if there is any trouble, don't hesitate to come get us." Charles said as he and Thomas went to ready the horses.

"We'll watch over things here, just go and talk to the informant and be safe, I heard that the patrols have been increasing lately." You stated to Haytham as you fixed the lapels of his coat, you could feel how Haytham watched your every move, certainly noticing how your face would scrunch up in concentration as you made sure that everything was perfect.

"I didn't have to be so careful if I had my faithful bodyguard by my side, are you sure you don't want to come, my dear?" You stiffened when you felt his hand grab yours and direct your attention away from the coat and onto him entirely. You could see just how serious he was by his eyes, those eyes that said a million things that he could not.

"Y-yes I'm sure, Master Haytham, there are things that I need to attend to that I need to handle alone." You stuttered and forced a smile in order to drop the subject, but you could tell that Haytham knew that you weren't telling him the whole truth, but he did not pursue it further out of respect for you.

"Alright, but you do understand that you can talk to me about anything, right (Y/n)?" You felt his grip on you tighten slightly for a brief second as an assurance of his caring nature towards you, a trait that you have loved about him since the two of you had met.

"Of course I do, sir. Besides, this will give you some quality time with Charles and Thomas, I know that Charles has certainly been pining for your time as of late." He chuckled at your remark and took a step back to give you back your personal space, a notion that felt bittersweet as you loved the close proximity but also appreciated the room to breathe.

"True, though I think that Charles would rather us be alone than to bring Thomas along." The two of you looked over at the two men bickering about something, you laughed awkwardly and rubbed the back of your neck.

"You do have a point, but this is also Thomas's informant, so you need him along in order to talk to this guy." A heavy sigh left Haytham's lips as he shrugged at the mention of the mind-numbingly tedious mission.

"You're right, I would just rather have you by my side for such a boring assignment." You swore that you could hear the beginnings of a whine in Haytham's voice as he tried to half-heartingly convince you to come along with him. You smiled at this and placed his beloved hat on top of his head.

"I know Master Haytham, but I promise I will be back later, there are just some things that I need to take care of." You were honestly getting slightly annoyed by his persistence, you knew that Haytham was the type of man to enjoy being in control of a situation, but you never expected that he would actually gripe about it.

"I see, I still don't know why you won't tell me what these "things" entail." He brought a hand up to push a stray hair behind your ear and let his hand linger on your cheek. A dark red rose to your cheeks and you avoided his eyes in fear of being goaded into revealing your feelings for him.

"Even if you are the Grand Master, that doesn't mean that you must know everything that I do, just as I do not know everything that you do." You didn't intend to sound displeased by this, but you panicked and couldn't stop yourself from saying it. He seemed a bit shocked at your defiance but failed to show any indication that he was upset by it. He took a step back and apologized for his action.

"I suppose that is fair, a thousand pardons for my forwardness, my dear." You worked on calming your heartbeat from Haytham's unusual displays of affection, he always preferred to close himself off and not show any emotion at all, it was necessary for his position as Grand Master.

"Apology accepted, and how about this? On the next mission, I will arrange for it to be just you and me, how does that sound?" You smirked at the smile you got from Haytham as he clasped his hands behind his back.

"I would rather enjoy that." You smiled at him before the two of you walked to the horses and bid farewell.

"Be safe, Master Haytham."

"You as well, (Y/n)"

~~Later~~

You had honestly just wanted to buy some supplies from the markets while everyone was away, but you noticed that some British soldiers were acting weird, so your instincts kicked in and you followed them to the harbor. You decided to disguise yourself with a sailor's clothes so that people wouldn't grow suspicious of a young woman with a sword on her hip, but they wouldn't think anything of a sailor having one. You found a sailor that wasn't much bigger than you and stole his uniform. You quickly changed and hid him away where no one could find him.

"Now to see what those soldiers are up to.." You whispered to yourself as you scaled the building onto the roof, knocking out a nearby guard and hiding him so you could eavesdrop on the soldiers without any worries of being spotted. You could just barely hear them and it sounded like nothing but gibberish, you scoffed and were about to go back and find the sailor when you spotted another group making their way into the back alleys, so you decided to join a nearby group of sailors and listen in on this conversation instead.

"What's all this about? Those guys almost look like....Haytham?! Thomas?! Charles?!" You knew as soon as you saw Haytham's signature hat that your assumption was correct, it seemed like they decided to meet with the informant where no one could hear them, well, no one except you. You decided to hide behind a wooden fence and listened in on their conversation.

"So what was this that you were talking about earlier, Thomas? Something about (Y/n) and me?" You felt your heart stop once those words left Haytham's mouth. You didn't dare take a breath in case any of them could hear you.

"That be right sir, I heard from the girl herself that she fancies you rather strongly. But the wee lass is much too shy to tell you upfront. So she asked me to tell you for her, to save face and all that." You felt an unparalleled rage fill you as you dug your nails into the fence, you were sure that you had gotten splinters from almost snapping the board but you didn't care. All you cared about was getting revenge on Thomas Hickey for blowing your secret to not only Haytham but Charles as well. You decided to leave before you could hear anymore and were soon noticed by other sailors thinking that you were their comrade.

"Oi, mate! Where the bloody hell 'ave you been? Faulkner says he want these supplies on board the Aquila pronto!" You were snapped out of your rage and given a heavy wooden crate filled with bottles of rum and ale. You groaned at the weight and did your best to hold it in a way that wouldn't cause any strain on you.

"R-right away, sorry 'bout that." You meekly answered in the voice that you remembered that the sailor you had swapped clothes with had and followed the other sailors on board the ship, where you actually got to see Faulkner and Connor in his captain's clothes. You had to admit that he was the spitting image of Haytham and that he looked rather dashing standing proud like he was, like a real captain should. You didn't realize that you were staring when Connor shifted his gaze to you and locked eyes with you.

"Oi! Quit gawking like a git and get moving!" You felt a large hand slap you upside the head as the sailor from earlier ordered you to pass around the booze and put the rest in the storage area. You apologized and got moving, but you couldn't seem to shake the pain that the slap had caused. Not only that, but every time you moved your hand, you would feel a sharp pain from the splinters you got earlier, which caused you to wince almost non-stop. Everything was going fine for the most part until you heard Connor's booming voice call out to you.

"Smith! Captain's Quarters, now!" You lifted your head as you once again locked eyes with Connor, he then motioned over to what you assumed to be his quarters, you then saw that he opened the door for you and motioned for you to go in first, he was a gentleman just like Haytham. You mentally smiled at this as he closed the door behind him.

"I-is something the m-m-matter, s-sir?"

"Let me see that hand." He didn't give you a chance to respond as he gently grabbed your hand and turned it over to see multiple splinters, he then grabbed some cloth and alcohol and began pulling out the splinters.

"You have rather fair hands for a sailor, don't you?" You didn't dare look him in the eyes as he treated your hands and directed your attention to the decor of the room.

"I-I su-suppose, sir. You're hands are rather gentle as well." You could feel a small blush form on your cheeks as Connor examined your hand for any further injuries before wrapping it in cloth.

"Such fairness only belongs to an equally fair women, but there are also some soft calluses from gripping a sword, and the only women I know with sword training is my father's bodyguard." You were shocked that he could deduce all that but laughed and scoffed at him.

"Haytham always did say that you had an eye for detail, that was very clever, Captain Connor." Connor released your hand and motioned for you to take off your hat so he could look at the bruise you got from earlier. You complied with his request and let him treat the wound.

"What are you doing on board the Aquila, (Y/n)? I doubt you wish to join the Assassins considering your dedication to my father, so what is your real reason?"

"If I'm to be honest, me being on board the Aquila is a simple misunderstanding. I was spying on some British soldiers and I needed a disguise, so I stole the clothes off of this "Smith" man, but it ended up being a farce, only talk of supplies and enlisting more troops."

"Tell me, did you kill Smith before you stole his clothes?" You could feel his grip on your hair tighten in order to get an answer from you.

"No, I''m not heartless, Connor. I only knocked him out long enough to change clothes, he should be walking around by now."

"I hope you are right, for your sake. But you never answered my other question."

"Right, well the real reason is that I'm actually hiding from Haytham.." You could tell that he was definitely surprised by your words, he always thought you would do just about anything for his father, so to hear that you were hiding from him was definitely a shock.

"O-oh, did something happen between you two?"

"You could say that, it's just that Hickey told Haytham something that he wasn't supposed to know, and now I'm afraid to face him." Thankfully Connor got the hint that you didn't want to talk about it and dropped it."

"Well, for as long as I've known you, you have never been afraid of anything, you are almost as reckless as Achilles says I am." You couldn't suppress your laugh at Connor blunt honesty, it was weirdly comforting being open with someone who the others always make out to be the cold-hearted, bloodthirsty enemy. But to you, he was Connor Kenway, the son of the man you loved.

"Trust me, it definitely feels weird admitting that I'm scared, but it's also not an unfamiliar feeling. Ever since your father saved me from the streets, I haven't been afraid of anything, but this is something entirely different, I don't think I can face Haytham right now, not after this."

"I will not ask what your business is since it is none of my concern. But I will suggest that maybe this is something to discuss with my father when you are ready."

"Haha, maybe, but right now I just want to get some revenge on Hickey. Feel like helping me with that?" You could see Connor smirk at the idea of hurting a Templar, especially an annoying one like Hickey. You then realized that you had more in common with Connor than you first thought, that he actually liked to have fun once in a while just like anyone else.

"Hickey is rather annoying, I will consider your offer." The two of you shook hands in agreement and you stood up to leave.

"Good, and thanks Connor, you really were a big help, and you're not what the others say you are, you're a sweetheart." You saw a tinge of pink spread across Connor's face as you bid him goodbye and left the Aquila. You managed to find your clothes and returned the uniform you stole from Smith.

~~Later that evening~~

You had arrived back later in the night, you had sneaked in through the window after jumping from the rooftops for quite some time after your talk with Connor, it helped to clear your head and relieve some of the tension and anxiety you were feeling. Once you were ready to face Haytham, you had returned to where you were all staying, but you didn't expect Haytham to be waiting for you. Apparently you had worried him when you didn't return for the whole day.

"Master Haytham, I am so sorry that I worried you." You kept your head down while Haytham lectured you. You could hear him sigh heavily as he tried to keep his composure from faltering in front of you.

"I should hope that you are, but I am glad that you are not harmed in any way."

"Yes, sir. I also have something I want to discuss with you, i-if that is alright with you.."

"Of course, my dear, what did you want to discuss?" You took hesitant steps towards Haytham while you talked to him, he didn't seem to mind so you continued until you were as close to him as you could be.

"W-well, it is in regards to what you said earlier today..a-about me being able to t-talk to you about anything...well I w-wanted to ask you something...." You stuttered as you wrung your hands together and felt a drop of sweat cascade down your face. Haytham mistook it as a tear as used his thumb to swipe it away.

"Yes, what is it, (Y/n)?"

"W-w-what if I told you, that over m-my time of being your bodyguard, that my feelings f-for y-you gradually increased from simple admiration i-into something m-more than that?" You had hid your face in Haytham's coat and kept a hold of his lapels, you felt a few tears slip through as you waited in silence for Haytham's answer. Your felt how Haytham's chest rumbled with quiet laughter before he wrapped his arms around you and placed his chin on your head.

"I would say that I feel the same, Hickey told me today before we met with his informant, and I have had suspicions for a while about your feelings for me. But I will also say that perhaps it is better if we wait before we pursue our relationship." You smiled and wrapped your arms around Haytham and buried your face in his chest.

"Just knowing that you feel the same is enough for me, Master Haytham." You made a mental note to thank Connor for the confidence boost later and to help him mess with Thomas, but for now you were happy just being with Haytham.
Long and probs shitty but I did it! I finally finished Haytham's after working on it for almost 3 freaking days!
I really tried my best to get everyone's character right.
And yes Charles has a man-crush on Haytham, everyone who has played AC3 and has read Forsaken knows it.
FYI Forsaken is part of the Assassin's Creed Novel series, not the comic book series, and yeah there are novels and comics, not just games. But Forsaken details Haytham's life before and during the game, it's a really good book and worth the read, along with the other books in the series. All the books are written by
Oliver Bowden, and you can find them at Barnes & Nobles.
I own nothing.
